Surgical management of gastric dilatation and volvulus in dogs

چکیده
Three dogs of different breeds presented to the clinics, with a complaint abdominal distension, respiratory distress and anorexia were diagnosed have gastric dilatation volvulus. The findings clinical examination radiography aided in diagnosis condition treatment was initiated immediately after all cases. Stabilization animal performed by administration intravenous fluids other supportive drugs attempts made decompress stomach tube. Decompression tube didn’t yield positive result any case hence decompression followed derotation under general anesthesia. Out three one dog collapsed during process stabilization as it delay when compared others. two monitored for next four hours from completion surgery then discharged ward. Postoperatively, antibiotics analgesics given besides supporting which showed an uneventful recovery those dogs.

Disseminated intravascular coagulation in dogs with gastric dilatation-volvulus syndrome
Gastric dilatation and volvulus syndrome is associated with changes in haemostatic profiles. The aims of this study were to compare selected haemostatic and fibrinolytic parameters between healthy dogs and dogs with gastric dilatation and volvulus syndrome, estimate the incidence of disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), and determine the most sensitive test for detection of DIC in these...

Gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV) is an emergency condition involving abnormal, excessive gas distension and rotation of the stomach. The syndrome of GDV – both the gastric pathology and associated cardiovascular and other organ consequences is a major medical and surgical emergency, involving significant stress to both the patient, requiring the clinician to possess a sound and thorough knowle...

Gastric dilatation-volvulus is an acute life-threatening condition that primarily affects large-breed dogs. By definition, the initiating event of the syndrome involves an abnormal entrapment and accumulation of fluid and air within the gastric lumen that results in extreme, traumatic distention of the stomach (dilatation) and variable rotation of the stomach on its long axis (volvulus). Early ...
متن کاملA time series model of the occurrence of gastric dilatation-volvulus in a population of dogs
BACKGROUND Gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV) is a life-threatening condition of mammals, with increased risk in large breed dogs. The study of its etiological factors is difficult due to the variety of possible living conditions. The association between meteorological events and the occurrence of GDV has been postulated but remains unclear. This study introduces the binary time series approach ...

Gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV) is a life-threatening condition in dogs and other species in which the stomach dilates and rotates on itself. The etiology of the disease is multi-factorial, but explicit precipitating causes are unknown. This study sought to determine if there was a significant association between changes in hourly-measured temperature and/or atmospheric pressure and the occur...
